"I should have canceled my policy when the tow truck repeatedly lied to me, saying they were five minutes away, when in fact they arrived 3 hours later. But I gave them another shot. I should have canceled my policy when they quoted me insurance for my business, and then when I went to pay for the policy they turned around and said we made a mistake, we're not going to offer you insurance. I should have canceled my policy when I had a claim from a poorly installed manhole cover in Randolph, with a police report, the contact info for the town manager, and a clear narrative that indicated that the town accepted responsibility. They did not subrogate and treated it as my claim. I should have canceled my policy when they aggressively called to offer a big brother-style monitor in my car... and their staff argued with me about it, rather than just taking my "no" as a no. But I didn't... because Terri seems nice on the phone and has an explanation for everything. And then they freaking canceled us. I gave them about a million breaks, forgiving junk service, and certainly paid way more in premiums than claims... and the claims were the fault of others, so they should have pursued those. And the thank you is a big fat non-renewal, and oh! an email that they'll help us find another policy. No way, fool me multiple times, shame on me. Fact is, that as an agent, this office is pretty useless. Editing to add a response to the company: First, it's a violation of our privacy to publicly reveal the number of incidents we've had. The two accident claims were not our fault; in one case, your company determined that after your investigation, in the other, the township admitted fault but you did not pursue them. The three other events were very minor traffic violations. It's your right to cancel us, for even zero events, so this isn't really the point. But I'm also pretty sure that we were customers for 7 years and I referred my elderly parents too. Ultimately, your responses are a lot of smooth-talking answers and "it's out of our hands" excuses. Fact is, you are the face of the insurance company and the "pay to" on our checks. The failures ARE your responsibility, and most certainly we were a years-long customer, who forgave a lot of offenses on your part, and you ditched us. And let's be real: the "help" you offered to find other options are just connections that probably bring you a referral fee or reciprocity from the agents you refer to. That help isn't so much in our interest as it is another business opportunity for you."
"I am truly sorry for your non-renewal as a customer of the past 5 years. To clarify, cancellation decisions are NOT made by me or my agency but are based on long-term risk factors such as claim frequency and driving factors. In your case, there were 5 incidents in 5 years, resulting in the business decision to cancel. Our role as an advocate is to explain your options and help our clients prepare for outcomes which is exactly what we did and even went above and beyond in helping you secure alternative coverage elsewhere once their decision was final. The optional telematics program you referenced as a "big brother" monitor is an industry-standard savings program that many customers choose to help offset premium increases related to their claims or driving activity. It was presented as an option only to you to help reduce your payments, but of course your participation is always voluntary. Regarding the tow company; those are handled by a third party vendor and again, not by my agency. While we don't control those outcomes, we consistently look to improve our customer's experiences through them. I agree with you that this was not handled appropriately! We have been in contact with our vendor expressing feedback with multiple cancellations and delays and continue to do so. Our only request to our policyholders is to select an alternative tow company or one of their own choosing. Again, I am truly sorry we did not meet your expectations but please know we feel your frustration and wish you nothing but the best moving forward and are still here if you want help finding a solution that better fits your needs. "
